Wheres Wilson 2014 Wrap Up

alright, a wrap up of this, which was chronicled here.

well, as always, i tried to keep the drawing completely unbiased. sure i'm pulling for people, this is lora and dan S's second year playing, you want to see that pay off. but lotteries can be cruel mistressessessess....so i merely let the hand of chance decide.

and here it bees

if that works, it should display these numbers

which means
neal M
dan
pineapple (who i actually met in austin, for some reason i remember him clearly)
and adam

you'll notice i picked four numbers, i felt like i had so many entries, you gotta reward that, so the first two winners i'll send off variants to, and the second two will get regulars. if regulars exist. which i think they do? i guess we'll see.

keep in mind, it could take me up to a month to actually have my copies in hand. so right now its just a promise and a dream. but if i die, then it'll take longer for you to get these.  a lot longer!! ha ha ha. gasp. *dies*.

ps. as many of you have probably guessed, Thomas Wilson is actually an anagram for "A Whims Stolon" - which is my pen name. i didn't want to cause too much fuss, but it was great meeting you all at SDCC, and i had a great time. until next year!

Thursday Update: 4PM
Supposedly  Tom is heading over to  "the a&e booth to hang with my tattoo crew. 4000 area I think"

Congrats to Lora, the first to find Thomas - though she could possibly be the only person looking, in which case her chances are good in the lotto!

and congrats to chris, whos excellent zorg is the costume to beat this year! chris emailed me as well, after tom sent me the photo. pretty cool.

and congrats to jim, who emailed me this pic. three people in the running so far!

and lastly (for thursday) alex sends this pic. that could be it for 2014's Where's Workman, a good looking group of people. but we'll see, i'll keep updating through the weekend and maybe there will be some more.

SDCC2014 WHERE'S WORKMAN?

EDIT: updates here

so, some of you remember the ol 'Where's Workman' contest of 2012. a good time was had by all. except Workman. he did not enjoy it at all and threatened my life. which got me thinking, hey, SDCC is going on right now, we should have another 'Where's Workman' contest!

What can you win? well, in addition to a myriad of handbills to choose from, 2 lucky contestants will win, free of charge, a copy of the variant of whatever Mondo poster I'm selling next. whenever that is.

a few changes though. instead of harassing Workman, i figured we could harass my other friend, let's call him Thomas Wilson. pictured here (wearing a shirt he got custom printed for himself, 1 of 1.)

you might see him with this band of miscreants. Nate being the Paul Rudd fellow and of course Workman playing the part of Workman.

TO ENTER: get your picture taken with Thomas Wilson. email it to me. Tom actually has some handbills, so you should hopefully get that from him right when you approach him. say hello. give him a hug. Then take a picture with him and email it to me. If only two people do that, then you both will win a copy of my next variant mondo poster. if 4 people do it, then you have a 50/50 chance of winning. etc.

I'll be posting updates on his location. as he gives them to me. he's in san diego now.

Bonus points if Workman is in the background of the photo as well. And when i say bonus points, i mean imaginary bonus points, anyone who emails me a pic of them with tom will have a shot. at the end of sdcc i'll do a lotto drawing of the pictures provided, and whatever two i choose will also get a copy of my next mondo variant poster. which could be terrible, i hope not.
.

ALRIGHT, fun times.

ps - i realize its kinda late in the week for people to even see this, and i won't be doing a mass mailing or anything, so if no one participates, that's ok. its just done for fun's sake.

PPS - i only sent a limited amount of handbills with Tom, so getting your picture taken with him won't give you one of everything he has. you'll probably just get one or two, depending on how many he has left.

PPPS - i will update a different blog post with pictures of the gang, as well as hints to their locations. if anyone's interested. and if not, hey, i get to live vicariously through Workman's photos.

Umphrey's Mcgee / Kukuweaq 3 sale info

edit: looks like these have sold out. thanks for all your orders, i am once again humbled and amazed. i hope to come out with something soon that will be more accessible to people. thanks again.

alright, let's see if i remember how to do this.....

i have some prints for sale - i recently did a poster for the band Umphrey's McGee, a regular delight to work with. I have those prints for sale here - and i'm limiting people to one print per person. which is pretty common. unless i don't sell out, then i'm limiting people to 80 copies per person.

I also did an art print recently, Kukuweaq 3 - which was a continuation of a series i've worked on over the years. You can pick that print up here. again, i'm limiting people to one poster per person. Due to my antiquated way of selling prints via bigcartel, there's always a possibility of refunds, I will post on my website when all oversale refunds have gone out. though if you double ordered and we don't catch it right away, we could refund you all the way up to shipping, apologies.

a bit about the prints. the Umphrey's Mcgee poster was for their show at Red Rocks. I actually presented a few different ideas and was surprised they chose this one, but i'm pleased with how it turned out. don't be surprised to see some of those other ideas turn up other places, i am pro-recycling.

the UM poster is an edition of 500, though the majority went to them of course.

Next up, the Kukuweaq 3 print. its actually part of this trilogy. the middle one i did for a book for fantagraphics like 7 years ago. then i turned that into a print. then i did Kukuweaq 2 for the sequel to that book. and turned that into a print. people had been asking over the years (2 people), so i figured i'd do a third one.

Now heres where it gets interesting. this particular print (Kukuweaq 3) - i was a bit hasty when sending it off to my printer. didn't double check my file, didn't nail down the red completely...a number of factors i am completely to blame for. and when i got it back, it looked great, but it didn't match the other two kuk posters. the red was a bit different, the blue i had completely screwed up by not having a fountain blend like in previous years. basically it was 100% my fault, but i had to reprint it, since i assume one or two people will compare it to previous kuks. the original Kuk3 printing had glow in the dark yellow. the new revised print has a fountain blend at the bottom instead. just for fun, i'm mixing in 10 copies of the old glow version (which looks like this) with orders. so you may get one of those. BUT, if you have previous kuks, you probably don't want this glow version, since it won't match, so drop me an email if you don't want that glow version. confusing, i know. basically, 10 copies will glow in the dark, but the red will be a bit off from Kuk1 and Kuk2. they will also have a red stamp on the back instead of a green stamp. or was it vice versa? theres something different between them.

edition wise, due to having to junk an entire first printing, i needed to make that up a bit, so the edition is 205. if that's too big for you i understand, previous kuks were like editions of 50 and 65. please check your tube carefully, supposedly these will have something extra included.

ALRIGHT, i think that's it. for the few of you that are interested in movie prints only, i actually should have one coming out eventually. i just hope you like meg ryan!

thanks for your patience.
