Black Keys regular / variant info

note: this post is for those that purchased a black keys print. if you didn't purchase one, its completely non-important info. they are sold out, i'm not looking for additional orders in any way.

hello. this is specifically for those that purchased the black keys vegas poster. last week. these are shipping as we speak (probably going out tomorrow) -- but i just felt like i might have left this a bit vague, wanted to make sure i clarify.

if you purchased a black keys print, you could either get the regular
REGULAR BLACK KEYS
or variant
VARIANT BLACK KEYS

i have mostly regulars, but about 10% of those that ordered will get variants instead. i'm just mixing them in randomly. you won't get both versions, and most of you will get the regular, but a few will get the gold variant.

here's the important part: if you absolutely DON'T want the gold variant version, email me immediately and let me know. just a 'i prefer the red version'. the gold variant is supposed to be a nice surprise, a smaller edition, just a fun thing. but if you hate the gold version let me know, i don't want people thinking they ordered the red and getting the gold instead.

ALSO important, you don't have to email me saying you prefer the gold version. they will truly be sent out at random, at no higher cost to you.

so, again, for those of you that ordered the black keys print and specifically want the red regular edition, lemme know. and i will let sarah know.

gracias amigos!

BEST. MOVIES. EVER. of 2012.

update: some small updates at the bottom, as i feel em.

so this list is completely my opinion only, what do i know about anything? nothing, that's what. but here are the films i enjoyed most in 2012.

note: some of these came out in 2011, but weren't available to see til 2012, so those made the list. i can honestly say i've watched all of these films at least twice, and some of them many more times than that. since i watch movies while i work, lots of these have become the current soundtrack of my life. wah wah.

TOP TENNER
Prometheus - no two ways about it, i really loved this film. first time i saw it i liked it, second time i loved it. third time, well i still loved it. just a film that hits the right notes for me. doesn't go nuts on bringing in the big bad xenomorph, instead tries to add to the mythology. and even where it kinda fails at that, it succeeds just by trying. by far the movie from this year i'm most hopeful about getting a sequel.

The Grey - i cried a little during this movie, i won't lie. those wolves, they just loved eating those guys so much. it touched me. but really the father / son flashbacks, that hit me in the feeling-nuts. in a good (non-weird) way.

Django Unchained - this list is not really in order, so this ones up there with Prometheus. not an easy film to watch in some places, truth be told. i imagine on some days it was kinda awkward on set, filming this. but i could be wrong. i'm overthinking it. i've seen it 6 times so it must be ok by me.

Warrior - easy to forget, since it came out in 2011, but wide release was beginning of 2012. and to me, this was better than 'the fighter'. i just remember recommending this to everyone after i saw it. again, i got all emotional, i have a brother, and while he isn't an MMA fighter, he still beats me up sometimes. even though he's 4 years younger. and that is emotional, let me tell you.

Lockout - much booed on its release, i had a lot of fun with this one, even though tom and kev (who i saw it with) did not. Guy Pierce (criminally underused in Prometheus) did a great job channeling his inner Snake Plisken type. its the definition of a genre piece, and i happen to be a huge fan of the 'future prison' genre. See No Escape and Fortress.

The Guard - another 2011-er, but late to me, from across the seas. just a wonderful character piece with brendan gleeson. i watched it last night again and just really enjoyed it, makes me laugh.

Stakeland
- all sorts of 2011'ers, this one was of the vampire genre, but more like vampires as a plague, vampires as zompies, vampires with no personality. this director (Jim Mickle) - one to watch for sure. his previous film, mulberry street, another great plague type movie. lower budget but i still watch it all the time, love it.

Bernie - not quite what i was expecting but still very awesome, jack black in a role custom made for jack black, with the singing and the mustache, the works.

Cabin In the Woods - i, along with many others, enjoyed this. a fun look at the apocalypse.

Into the Abyss - time to get real. ha. but seriously, a serious film by werner herzog, probably also from 2011, but new to me. documentary about a person on death row, just had some powerful thoughts on the subject, some powerful interviews with people currently incarcerated.

Honorable Mention:
The Raid: Redemption - saw this in seattle during ECCC  with nick and tom, a fun time was had. frankly after seeing this i was a bit let down by dredd, since this kinda does the 'one floor of an apartment block at a time' thing better than dredd. to me anyways. plus the ending of dredd was a bit weird, some big hulking dude throwing a woman (granted, a bad guy woman) out of a window to her death, it just rubbed me the wrong way. i'm overthinking it probably. but yes, Raid, great.

End of Watch - cop drama, i enjoyed it.

Flight - obviously i enjoyed the crash scene the most. the rest was ok, underused john goodman, he was the light of this movie.

Argo - speaking of criminally underused john goodman....holy smokes.

Wreck it Ralph - liked it, saw it with my kids, they were dancing during the credits.

Rammbock - a zombie film from across the pond...well germany actually. pretty sweet.

Extraterrestrial - a bit of a letdown after the brilliance that was time crimes, but still, it was weirdly sweet to me, and i enjoyed that aspect of it.

Submarine - saw this way late but enjoyed it. not at all what i was expecting, pretty humorous.

Unfairly Kitsch'd in the nuts award:
John Carter - i really liked this, i felt it could use some editing, started off kinda slow, but overall had parts i liked and i've watched it a few times. could have really been a fun start to a trilogy. unlike transformers, which is literally the worst.trilogy.ever.

Battleship - going out on a limb here, the first 30 minutes were awesomely terrible. but then the aliens arrived and it really picked up for me. had some fun parts. is it amazing? no. but is it 'Independance Day 2: Naval Academy'? yes. plus the aliens were like real aliens, not those blobby non-form CGI aliens you see in movies like Battlefield LA and Skyline.

Any Shark Movie is a good Shark Movie award:
Bait - i watch all shark movies, and i cut em a lot of slack. much like crocodile movies (lake placid 2-4 anyone? no, they're crap.). bait was pretty enjoyable, the shark effects were pretty good (after the opening scene). overall just a pretty enjoyable shark flick.

Dark Tide - i felt like i was on drugs while watching this film. the vibe from it is so weird, so off the wall. tries the whole movie to make us more afraid of sharks then at the end is like 'sharks are wonderful creatures.' it is bad in parts, and really bad in other parts, but hey, shark movie. i have watched it a few times and its still a surreal movie to me.

note: any shark movie = a good shark movie is not something i actually believe. so many bad ones out there. so many. a movie like shark night comes along and you're just relieved the shark isn't a huge cartoon.

PPSS - don't read anything into those films that aren't on my list. the ones i listed are just on the top of my head, but could easily fit other movies as well. Avengers, really enjoyed it, watched it several times, should be on this list, best marvel movie since iron man. Looper, have only seen it once, need to watch it again. Lincoln, have never watched it, have no plans on watching it, much like i have no plans on reading a book about lincoln (edit: that sounds obnoxious. i mean to say, i will see it, but have made no plans to see it). just have to find the right time and place in my life to say 'hey, let's watch lincoln.'

The "I FORGOT ABOUT THAT" awards:
The Hobbit - i honestly forgot about this one, having seen it so recently. in fact i saw it new years eve. my dad fell asleep, as did sarah. i did not and it was fun. long, but fun. i have since seen it again and it really did grow on me, i loved that world in the LOTR trilogy, and i'm excited about visiting there again in the next two hobbit films. if the biggest complaint for me was 'its a bit long', well that's not too bad, since what else am i going to do, i like watching movies. and i think this one, as the series goes on, will really flesh out and grow on people. here's hoping!

possibly will add more later as i am reminded of them.

2013 - the year we made caantact

so, now that things are calming down, an update to let those interested know what 2013 is looking like. my 2012 best of movies list is coming, it takes awhile to craft it. i finally saw jack reacher so i can now make my list. jack reacher will not be on it.

2013, so far, is going ok. currently i have
- 3 cinema related screenprints done, to be released sometime within the next 11 months (i believe, who knows for sure), don't ask when or what they are, i have no idea on either.
- a dvd piece that i'm pretty proud of, coming out at some point this year.
- a shirt for subpop, for a series they are putting together. they said it was ok to mention this, i'll post more info as i get it.
- 4 new stickers in the works, though not printed yet.
- a poster for a comedy benefit show coming up
- plus some other random things quickly coming together.

also in the works....a new website for the ol tstout.com. "but we love your website, its great, don't change it!" i can hear you all saying now. its time though, its time. things like my newsfeed, updates and all that, apparently a website from 2005 just lacks the zazz of newer sites. this doesn't mean i'll get on twitter though. or facebook. or buy a cellphone. or bathe regularly. baby steps, baby steps.

all this just to say i haven't fallen along side the road in a heap, covered in blankets, waiting to be carted off to the junkyard. i'm still alive, and working on making 2013 a decent year, full of laughs and maybe even a few tears. and not the happy kind of tears either. angry tears.

in closing, i know people like a sneak peak, so here ya go. i've probably given it all away.

thanks again folks,
-tyler
vice president of tstout posters and sports rentals

Black Keys Vegas poster

greetings from the year 2013.

black keys are sold out, thank you for all your orders. apologies on the random drop, i wasn't expecting quite the level of interest on that particular poster, so decided to just do a random none lottery drop. didn't mean to frustrate those of you that missed it.

for those of you interested in purchasing the black keys poster i did for their new years eve shows in vegas, go here xxx link removed, poster sold out xxx

since my store allows oversales, there is a good chance of refunds. i'll refund orders quickly, and post when i'm done on tstout.com

people are limited to one poster per person, per household, per mailing address, per. i have two versions,

regular red
golden variant

i only have about 10 variants so they'll just be chosen at random from the orders, like a golden ticket. only you don't win anything, you actually lost 40$. but in a sense you win a poster. by purchasing it.

---------------------------------

thanks again,
best
tyler

brometheus followup

regarding my whole prometheus sticker thing, what a disaster, so late on that, my apologies to those that sent ticket stubs, i have many excuses but they are all poor, very poor. BUT, things are in motion, and these will be arriving at my house in the next month and then on their way to those of you that entered. good times. unless you hate it, then bad times for you.

so, apologies again on the lateness, but soon you'll get this highly not-sought-after sticker.

LTRIO / AKRA lotto

update: lotto is closed, thanks for all your entries. there were quite a few, so with only 10 prints total there will be a lot of sad people. however, those not picked will save $400, not too shabby for a day's work.

sarah is currently picking emails. since she just has to pick 10, it won't be too long. i'll post first names on my site just to confirm there were 10 winners. though i could be making names up. but i won't be making them up.

update: people picked
LTROI
Matthew H
Scott W
Scott S
James T
Jason M

Akira
Henry B
Joe S
Benjamin E
Jon G
Jason B

so there ya go. a surprising lack of ladies. which is not surprising overall, since the majority of entries were guys. i had zero hand in picking these names, this is the first time i'm seeing them, i don't even know the last names yet. so its all sarah, completely random.

thanks again, she's sending out emails and i appreciate those that entered. hopefully next poster lotto i will have a lot more than 10 posters for sale.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

due to my own lack of productivity in 2012, i am a bit short on funds, so am selling 5 of my personal copies of my Let The Right One In print and 5 copies of my Akira print, both regular edition.

i'm selling each for 400$, which is never a good deal, anything over a 100$ is a lot, i know that. but if you're in the market and consider it worth it, you can enter a lotto by emailing here

xxx email removed, lotto closed xxx

in your email, put your name, address, and what poster you'd like to purchase. if you are interested in either, put both names. but you'll only be picked for one. i could have 5 entries, in which case i'll let you order both.

sarah will pick winners tomorrow, january 25th, friday, 12 PM PST.

i'm doing lotto just to give everyone a fair chance i guess. but please don't feel like you need to enter for my sake, for some weird charity thing. i'm doing fine, i just need to pay bills. and when funds are low, i sell things for ridiculous prices. but again, only enter if you really have no problem paying 400$. i don't want your rent money, that makes me feel bad.

07.27.11 - - - -

as some of you may have heard, marvel is giving away offset posters of the captain america poster to people attending the comicon screening of captain america.

i haven't seen them in person and won't be selling any offsets (no offsets will be sold anywhere i believe, its a free item), but the easy way to tell the difference is the comicon versions have a red flag up top. not blue like the screenprints .

plus they won't have metallic inks or be screenprinted. so just be aware if you purchase one on the secondary market.

07.20.11 - - - -
PHISH AND Black Keys winners have been picked and notified.

if they choose to not purchase the poster by this evening i might send out a few more emails. thanks to all that entered. as always,

dog days of summer, eh. finally getting some 'ty time' in. hopefully.

in mondo news, mondo posters have been officially recognized by the academy of motion picture arts and sciences. so we're all legit now. not that we weren't before, but it just feels more better-er.

also, for you mondo history fans, you can now check out the history of mondo posters. or if you want to see just mine you can see em here.

07.08.11

updated my FAQ regarding signing poster requests.

in short, i'd be happy to do it at events or in person etc, but i can't have people shipping me posters to sign anymore. too many, and some are getting damaged, and its just no good, no darn good.

i feel bad about it but i feel worse about them getting damaged. sitting at my house for months. etc.
