so, how did the "Let the Right One In" lottery go?
well, for me it went ok. sure, the sale takes forever, i have to check and recheck all these emails, send out emails, check purchases etc. but, no one complained about the site crashing or anything, so that's good. most of the work is on my part which is good for everyone else.
some people prefer the old 'sale is at this scheduled time' way of doing things, i know. for me, after many sites crashing and angry emails, this seems to work better.
some people complained about the photo contest, saying 'its not fair that people have to buy a previous poster of yours to get this poster.' which isn't true at all, you don't have to buy anything. the photo contest is just a way of making sure some older collectors who've purchased my stuff for awhile now have a shot. i probably had about 100 photo submissions, and of those i randomly picked half. so, 50 posters to photo contest winners. since i had at least 250 posters, that still left 200 posters.
i then picked about 200 people, sent out emails, and am still waiting for everyone to purchase. which can take awhile since people are in australia and germany and spain etc etc. but at least this way everyone gets a chance, no matter what time code you're in.
i dunno, sure i'd like the sale to be over with in 20 minutes, sell posters on my tstout.com webstore, but right now that seems to not work. though i'm sure in the future i'll go back to that when my mailing list drops back down to 20 people.
as always i'm interested in hearing people's opinions and suggestions. at the end of the day i can't help but think its kinda surreal that i am having a lottery to see who gets to buy a poster, 'you've won the opportunity to give me your money!'
weird times man. anywho, thanks again, always appreciate everyone's business and many many kind words. if you need to email me make sure its at tyler@tstout.com - not that contest email, since that's full of contest submissions. i'll try to get back to you or my shipper person will.

Let the 3 different Right One(s) In
so, on this let the right one in poster, i have 3 different versions.
this was designed for a uk poster show, and their standard film poster size is 30x40" quad poster. so this poster was originally designed 30x40". i have a few of those sizes.
but i figured the main version i'd make available would be my standard 24x36 poster size. its the regular same size as all my movie posters. there is also a 24x36 variant, which doesn't have the red blood color but instead has a layer of glow in the dark ink. its a little yellow, and yellow + snow is not exactly a perfect match...but it is what it is. so i'll have those 3 versions. though mostly i'll have the regular size.
edition wise, i believe its about 300 regular edition / 100 variant edition / EDIT: 70 quad sized edition. though i don't have that many to sell, that's just the edition size.
if you're picked in the drawing i'll let you choose which version you prefer.
regular 24x36 version -
glow in the dark variant (24x36)
in the dark
30 x 40" quad sized

Phish Telluride followup
the lottery is over, and names have been picked and emails have been sent out to potential winners. thanks to everyone for submitting an entry, my apologies for not having enough posters to go around.
in the interest of full transparency - if you're wondering how many entries came in, it was around 860ish. 170ish of those attached photos. each email was given a number (in the order they were received, the first email being 1, the last being 860), and with the help of this random number generator - http://www.random.org/- i picked 18 numbers and those were the winners. then, having also flagged everyone who submitted a photo, from that smaller group i picked an additional 17 names. so, sending a photo increased your odds a bit.
i then searched as best as i could to make sure the winners hadn't entered more than once, duplicate mailing addresses, etc. i also searched by zip codes, and didn't come across any repeats. after confirming to the best of my knowledge they hadn't entered more than once, they were emailed a paypal invoice.
lots of people wrote really nice emails, though i am unable to respond to each person individually. i also treated all the emails the same to keep it fair.
not sure i'll be doing the photo entry again since it sucks to have people go through all that work of getting me a photo and not have anything to show for it. i do appreciate the photos though.
hopefully this was a fair way of selling these, and hopefully no one is that broken up about not winning. the posters came out kinda weird anyways, green and orange? i dunno man, i dunno.
thanks again.
