so, i believe i have the submissions, and i am going to be doing the lottery now. i will be emailing each of the 15 people that entered, asking for mailing addresses. i have also assigned each of you a number (1-15). and i have 15 ping pong balls, and i'll write a number on each of those. and then pick 4 lucky winners. i'll update with results, plus a video, so you know its legit. sarah will actually do the choosing, and it will be 100% random.

that's it. the last of the workman shots. congrats to dan. though the shot is from thursday, i am assuming its the last shot. but if not, email me any other workman pics. thanks to all that played, its been fun for me, and i will tally the final results, then do the poster giveaway and email everyone. assuming of course that the workman doesn't murder me in my sleep tonight.

last day of the where's workman saga. pretty sure no one else is even looking, but just in case. i heard they're heading to 'the exhibit hall'. wherever that is.

Thursday Update #3 Well thursday was not as eventful, when my source doesn't tell me their location, finding the Workman at SDCC is a lot like finding a needle in a stack of other weird looking needles. many of them dressed up as Hawkeye or Loki.

but, rising from the ashes, we do have one thursday sighting. congrats to jeff!

i will hopefully have more updates tomorrow. i also heard dredd was awesome, so that is a good thing as well.

Thursday Update #2
I spoke too soon! The Workman has revealed himself! or he has been secretly revealed. Remember, the key is 'being unnoticeable.' get a photo of you and him in the shot (clearly showing him, not like his back), but its not necessary to run up and say hi.

well so far no updates from my source on what the Workman is wearing today.  so he's out there, but he could be traveling incognito. i did get this picture though. maybe that is workman in disguise?

so, the cat is out of the bag, the Workman, or as he is officially called, 'Kevin Workman', is aware of this contest. at first he was not amused, but being a gentle spirit, he has forgiven me. i hope. i am assuming the contest is still 'a go', unless he says otherwise. i will also accept stealth photos of you in front of him, with him not knowing you're taking a picture. The Workman in his natural habitat, if you will.

i'm not sure if he'll let me update his picture each day, or location, so the mad workman rush might be over. but the game is still on, as far as i know.

then have i got a deal for you. as some of you know, i like to laugh. i have a friend attending this years SDCC, we shall call him "Workman." he is a good guy, a friendly chap, just looking to see the sights and have a fun time. and i thought it would be humorous to have a contest. the contest is called

to play, all you have to do is:
1. look for the Workman as you walk around the con
2. when you find him, say "Hey, can I get my picture taken with you?"
3. get a picture taken with him. he will be weirded out a little.
4. do not tell him why you want your picture taken with him.
5. email it to me, tyler@tstout.com

it is critical you do not mention this contest or my name to him. he must remain totally unaware.

everyone that emails me a picture of themselves with the Workman will get a free Hulk patch, and i will choose 4 winners from those that enter, and they will get either an akira print, a kill bill print, a LTROI print, or a empire print. that's a 40$ street value right there.

 i'll be honest, i doubt anyone will find him, but i'll try to update this blog post with his current location, as it is updated to me. if you do see him, and you're the only one to enter, you could win big! you'll still just get one poster, but you'll get your pick! but if four people or more enter, i'll just randomly pick from those and send out the prints. but everyone that enters gets a hulk patch. with a street value of no cents.

again, you can't tell him anything about this, he will have no idea what is going on. and your chances of winning, if you see him and get a pic, could be pretty good.

Soto / tstout Pearl Jam collab

a little about Jeff Soto and my Pearl Jam print. it is a collaboration between jeff and i. the challenge was integrating our two different styles. we decided on the playing card idea, and jeff really pushed to have it be as realistic as possible, even going as far as printing on the back, which is a first for me. we were inspired in part by rob jones dropkick murphy poster. the poster is technically a seven color screenprint, six on the front, one on the back, with die-cut rounded edges. another first for me.

jeff finished his entire part before i'd even started mine, and it really set the bar pretty high. working with an artist i have admired since college, one of the true greats, was an awesome experience.

originally, i envisioned people hanging the poster with jeff's side up, my side down, since mine is kinda 'after death, underground', his is kinda 'above ground, life.' but that's part of the magic, you can hang it either way. or you can even trim my portion off.

i had the chance to fly down to chino, california, for the day, and jeff was gracious enough to pick me and sarah up from the airport and drive us around the whole day. we signed our prints at the same time, and got to check out In House, the screenprinting shop, who do amazing work. then jeff gave us a tour of his studio, which was awesome, and a tour of chino, his hometown. all in all a great experience, highly recommended.

so that's it, that's the story behind this print. i haven't done many collaborations before but if they're all this amazing, who knows. great times were had.

Brometheus

so, i really enjoyed the movie Prometheus. saw it three times already. just saw it again last night. and i thought, 'hey, wouldn't it be fun to offer a free sticker to anyone that sends me their Prometheus ticket stub in the mail?'

and sarah was like 'that is going to be a logistical nightmare.' and i was like 'done.'

so, if you have a honest ticket stub (not some weird piece of paper or computer printout), and mail it to

xxx - closed - xxx

i will mail you a sticker. maybe it will even be prometheus themed (OR MAYBE IT WON'T). it might take me four months to mail it out. or it might take 4 weeks. but regardless, if you're wanting a sticker, probably a 4" circle sticker, mail me your ticket stub.

RULES. theres always gotta be some rules.

1. one sticker per household. don't send me like 10 ticket stubs and expect 10 stickers. one envelope, one ticket stub, one sticker. don't send 2 envelopes. just one.

2. it has to be an actual ticket stub. that is recognizable as a ticket stub. otherwise you could just make something in photoshop and print it out. am i right? yes.

3. your envelope has to have your address on it. i can use new envelopes, but i need to have an address.

4. i think this is for USA residents only, unless you live overseas / canada and know that shipping a letter to you from the USA isn't like 10 bucks. i have no idea. if its under a dollar shipping the sticker back to you, i'm fine with doing it. but if its like 10$, then no.

5. one PROMETHEUS ticket stub. in an envelope. mailed to me. done.

FAQ:

Q: i already saw prometheus but didn't keep my ticket stub? what can i do?

A: go see it again? the rules of this particular game depend on a ticket stub.

Q: why do you (tstout) care if we see prometheus?

A: no reason, its just for fun. i liked the movie, figured i'd come up with a pointless contest to get people to see it. i have no agenda at all. i do not reap financial rewards from the films box office. although, selfishly, i hope it does well enough to warrant a sequel. or even a trilogy.

Q: i sent you an envelope / ticket stub, and never got anything back.

A: well, its kinda on the honor system here. you're not giving me money, i'm not selling anything. i will return stickers to those whose envelopes / ticket stubs i get, but if it gets lost in the mail or something, there's no tracking on these. i'll put on my site when i've mailed off stickers. and my guess is i'll probably get one or two of these letters. since really, who uses the mail anymore to send letters? not many of us. but i will try my hardest, i have no reason to lie.

Q: i hated this movie!

A: totally fine. again, this is just a random fun thing. fun for me at least.

Q: can i add anything else to the letter?

A: just a ticket stub. for prometheus. a real ticket stub. no funny business.

patchwork

so, avengers posters should be arriving in the next week (or weeks for you internationals). and i think the tubes have some sticker or another added. i originally planned on adding this little 3" number to the orders, but sadly patches apparently take much longer than i had thought to get made.

all this to say, i had a fun idea but didn't order far enough in advance i guess (though i did order like a month or more ago, i believe). so they'll probably go out with some future orders, the gigposter books or something. points for trying? i know i know, NO POINTS AWARDED. i won't be selling them though, its what we call 'a freebie.'

still, maybe more patches to come down the road. or sticker packs, i'm looking into it. or a very small edition of authentic monkey paws. for luck.
